Happy New Year to everyone! Here in the early days of 2022, we felt it was important to look back and reflect on 2021. It was a year of extraordinary accomplishment and growth for College Sports Advisors (CSA). We have remained steadfast in assisting players and families through the recruiting process, despite some of the most challenging recruiting cycles due to the COVID eligibility waiver, 1-time transfer rule, and large roster sizes.
Here’s a recap of some of our favorite moments from the past year, and a look at where we’re headed next.
Hitting the Road
We are grateful for many things, but we are most proud of our player's successes! The year started strong as we completed our inaugural baseball class (2021 high school grad year), with all 8 players committing to play baseball in college.
As the spring baseball season got underway, some normalcy returned as high school games took place, and it was great to get on the road to watch our players compete. This was the start of an exciting time, knowing we had 35 players in the 2022 high school class to guide in the months ahead.
We saw hundreds of games traveling the East Coast all summer and fall. This is important for us to support and evaluate our players, connect with the college coaches, and ensure each College Sports Advisors player has the right recruiting plan every step of the way. All of our 2022 players had committed or received a baseball offer by the year's end. The precision at which our staff operates is something we take pride in because it is our goal to find a home for every CSA player.
CSA Levels Up
It was also exciting to add to our baseball staff as Garrett Stonehouse joined CSA as a Baseball Operations Assistant in June. Garrett was a five-year player at Elon University, where he graduated with a degree in Marketing. He has been a tremendous asset to the baseball department and players/parents.
While we started as a baseball advisory company, we quickly realized that parents needed help in other sports, so in February 2021, we launched our soccer division.
Alban Zohn, a former D3 and D1 college player who also played professionally in Europe, is our Soccer Advisor. In addition to having a passion for the game, Alban has a degree in Sports Ethics and works seasonally reviewing student applications for Occidental College in CA. These experiences give our athletes a vital resource in training, educational guidance, and ultimately advising them throughout the recruiting process.
In April, we added Jennifer Gazzillo as a CSA Soccer Advisor. A graduate of Quinnipiac University, Jen is a Physiology teacher at Paramus Catholic High School and an Assistant Varsity Soccer Coach.
We are thrilled with the addition of Alban, Jennifer, and Garrett. They represent the best of former collegiate athletes who remain passionate about their sport while determined to provide opportunities for future players.
Just Getting Started
In all, College Sports Advisors finished the year with a total of 38 college commitments! Most importantly, we value the trust we have established with our players and families, working together to optimize the recruiting process and find each the right FIT for their future.
As we start 2022, we remain focused on our players and families. The young talent entering our program in 2023, 2024, and 2025 classes is extremely exciting. There is no doubt that the future is bright! We can't wait to get back on the road with our players and families at winter workouts, high school games, and throughout the travel ball season. As a company, we continue to learn and evolve with the one collective goal, to help find the right fit for all of our athletes at the collegiate level.
